Default 56K Worries

Ok - after having a look at the new movie from the new area 'Sorrow'.

Its huge!

How does one with a 56K modem steam all that content? Would it involve like steaming in 100MB or so? Because I would never beable to do that.
I've never downloaded a file larger than 50MB.

Uhm, last time i checked they streamed it while you're in game. They only use the patching system outside GW when they're updating gw.exe

so I suppose you should just play the game for a very long time.

And not to offend you but: Why are you still using 56K? You come out cheaper with a budget ADSL/cable connection.

Because Broadband in my area is a 1year contract.
And i'm moving out in October.

Ok back to the point - do you think it would get laggy if it was steamed all in?

the way the streaming technology is designed, it will only stream the data you need and use minimal bandwith to do it. there is no significant difference in lag between dial-up and broadband connections. your biggest issues are loading screens if you have not been to an area before and perhaps thrid party programs like voice-chat that take an appreciable amount of bandwith.

Because in some areas (like where I live) broadband is simply not available with the exception of satellite. Satellite is very expensive, has DL limits, and has a 'ping' that makes dialup look great. Unfortunately there are a lot of people here in the USA that do not have any options but dialup. Short of wireless, broadband over powerlines, or legislation forcing telephone/cable companies to provide it to rural areas, people like me will never see broadband until technology can get it here using existing systems.

When you enter a zone, they download all the content in the zone at that time. The next time you enter the zone, no downloads needed.

Its just like Bgnome said:

Then install it on my pc?
